History

Hawai is the district headquarter of Anjaw district. The town is situated on the left bank of the river Lohit, a tributary of the mighty Brahmaputra. The beautiful town is at a height of 1296 metres above sea level. The beautiful scene of the Lohit valley and the commanding height of the settlement make Hawai one of the most beautiful places in Arunachal Pradesh.
